Breault Research Named Arizona's 2010 Small Business Innovator of the Year; Founder Dr. Robert Breault Recognized as 2010 Ed Denison Business Leader of the Year
TUCSON, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DEC. 1, 2010--Breault Research Organization (BRO), the global provider of virtual prototyping software and optical engineering services, is pleased to announce that the company has been named 2010 Small Business Innovator of the Year by the Arizona Governor's Celebration of Innovation (GCOI) award committee, and that its founder, Dr. Robert Breault, has been recognized as the 2010 Ed Denison Business Leader of the Year.
BRO received the state's Small Business Innovator of the Year award for its multiyear development and June 2010 release of APEX®, an optical engineering software application fully integrated with the industry-standard SolidWorks® 3D CAD software. APEX represents a leap forward in optical software, and gives optical, mechanical, and other types of engineers a user-friendly, CAD-based tool for the design and analysis of complex optical and illumination systems.
BRO verified the market need for APEX in 2006 and put a plan in motion to realize development of the new optical software program as a member of Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corporation's OEM distributor network.
According to BRO's CEO, Dr. Kevin Garcia, "Our commitment to Arizona and the state's tech community is best described by our actions. Rather than reduce our staff and operating expenses into the weakening economy, BRO hired and retained software developers to successfully release an entirely new product needed in the marketplace."
BRO's president and founder Dr. Robert Breault was named the 2010 Ed Denison Business Leader of the Year for his contributions to Arizona's technology industry and his community involvement. According to Amy Phillips, UA Technology Transfer License Specialist and Dr. Breault's nominator for the GCOI award, "Bob has been such a strong force for optics and entrepreneurs in Tucson that he is a natural fit for the Ed Denison Award."
Dr. Breault's prerecorded acceptance speech was shown at the GCOI awards ceremony, held at the Phoenix Convention Center on November 18th, 2010. On the day of the ceremony, Dr. Breault was in Korea doing more of the economic development work that led to his nomination and receipt of the award.
